Presque Isle Electric & Gas Cooperative's Farm Services are available to a variety of agribusinesses to help manage energy use on the farm and help control energy costs. The farm services program offers prescriptive rebates for small-scale projects that are easy to install, as well as custom rebates for large projects that improve multiple farm processes.
Eligible agribusinesses:

  • Commercial agribusiness
  • Dairy and livestock farms
  • Grain facilities
  • Greenhouses
  • Irrigation needs

Prescriptive rebates for farms: Presque Isle Electric & Gas Cooperative's Farm Services provides rebates for the installation of energy efficient products and equipment. Prescriptive measures are a "one-for-one" rebate for the installation of high efficiency equipment. Specifications for eligible equipment are identified in the application.

Prescriptive Lighting Measures
  • Replacing incandescent lighting with CFLs.
  • Rebates on qualifying LEDs.
  • Replacing T12 or standard T8 lighting systems with high performance or reduced wattage T8 lighting systems for non-high bay applications.
  • Replacing high bay (HID) fixtures with high bay T5 and T8 linear fluorescent fixtures.
  • Lighting controls.

  • Variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Food service, grocery, and commercial refrigeration.

  • Qualifying circulation and exhaust fans
  • Water heaters for dairy farm milk houses

Custom rebates for farms: Presque Isle Electric & Gas Cooperative's Farm Services provides rebates for the installation of innovative and unique energy efficient equipment. This allows for rebates that may not fit into the standard prescriptive measures and more appropriately meets the needs of an agribusinesses specific operations and processes. Rebates are based on the annual per kilowatt-hour (kWh) forecasted reduction at the time of project pre-approval.

Example custom projects may include (but not limited to):
  • Long-day lighting systems
  • Qualified LED and induction lighting
  • Dairy parlor equipment
  • Milk harvesting and cooling equipment
  • High efficiency in-floor radiant heat
  • Thermal blankets for greenhouses
  • Crop irrigation pressure reduction

In order to qualify for custom rebates in the Farm Services program, applicants MUST obtain written approval prior to any installations. Please refer to the directions on the application form.
