City of Escanaba logo

The City of Escanaba's Low Income Services helps qualified homeowners improve the energy performance of their homes, manage their electric energy use, and reduce electric bills by providing no-cost energy-efficiency measures. Measures for eligible households may include:

  • Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFLs)
  • Electric hot-water saving measures
  • Refrigerator replacements

Low Income Services is offered in cooperation with the United States Department of Energy's (U.S. DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) through local Community Action Agencies. Families that have received weatherization services through WAP have seen their annual energy bills reduced by an average of about $437 (dependent on fuel prices)*. Eligible households must meet the current family income guidelines (see chart below).

Bottom Line: Get a handle on wasted energy by taking advantage of these simple measures.

To participate in the Energy Optimization's Low Income program, you must apply for the Weatherization Assistance Program by contacting the Community Action Agency in your area. You can also call 877.296.4319 or email info@michigan-energy.org if you have questions or would like more information.
